TREKKING ON THE APENNINES Near Cà Vecchia Hotel, many touristic, cultural and naturalistic itineraries of the Bolognese Apennine can be followed. The Via dello Stale or Via degli Dei The name of Via degli Dei reminds the presence of mountains having names of pagan gods. The name Via dello Stale indicates the pass crossed. This middle eve road on the Savena, Setta ridge connected Bologna to Florence. With a quick step and a few time allowed you can reach Florence in 2 or 3 days only. If you have one week or more available, you may spend your time on these ridges between Bologna and Florence, making short walks every day and stops in places having a great naturalistic, historical, artistic and archeological interest. Monte Sole - The memory itinerary It is a ring shaped route of about 4 hours, along 7 km. You can reach the summit of Monte Sole, where a cippus in memory of the tragic events of the local history was placed and also the ruins of Casaglia, unfortunately known for the massacres done by nazi -fascists : as you know the Gothic Line got along this area. Furthermore the fauna and naturalistic features of the itinerary are also important, giving the opportunity to see deer and wild boars.
